Hi,
I have recently purchased this laptop and I am having difficulty with the dimming feature of the screen. The problem is when I am viewing a bright image for example an empty page on Chrome the laptop appears to be at full brightness, however when viewing something darker for example the Spotify interface which is mostly grey the screen seems to auto dim.
I have looked in the obvious places such as the Intel graphics control panel however all the power options are disabled and the "Maximum Performance" profile is selected. The option "Display Power Saving Technology" sounds like what might be causing my trouble however this is unticked.
I have also looked into the Windows power savings however the brightness have been set to full for both AC and battery power and adaptive brightness has been disabled in the advanced settings window.
I have searched this forum and found a few threads that seem to describe the same issue:

However I have tried all the steps suggested and still have this issue, they also make reference to the Dell settings panel by right clicking on the battery. I do not have this panel as the first thing I did was to perform a clean install of Windows 8 Pro, thus I don't have any Dell software installed.
I would really like to resolve this problem as the rest of the laptop is working fine and I am happy with it but this brightness issue is driving me mad!
Thanks,
Declan
