I am having a bit of trouble with choosing the right drivers for my Studio 1749's Radeon HD 5650 on Windows 8. I need a bit more information about my options.
Included in Windows 8 is a driver that installs itself called "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.20)". This driver seems to perform pretty well and thus far I have experienced no problems using it, however, as a gamer, I want to know if with this WDDM driver, do I get the full functionality of my graphics card or is it just a general driver that covers the basics?
I have also tried out the drivers supplied on the AMD website, however these are generic AMD Catalyst Mobility drivers and I have been having some problems with them (my external display keeps randomly flicking off).
Then there are the drivers provided on Dell support that AMD recommends I install, however they do not seem to work at all on Windows 8. I have tried in a variety of ways and they just wont install. If I could get these working, would they be my best option?/does anyone know how to get these working on Windows 8?
